It was just yesterday when I read on the news that Farrah Fawcett's long time partner Ryan O'Neal married her and then the next day, she dies. Even if the world knew of her long struggle with intestinal cancer, it's still very sad to hear of her demise.
I didn't really grow up in the 70's (im an 80's-90's kid) so I can't say I watched her in Charlie's Angels. But I do love this iconic photo of her:
This was the shot that propelled Ms. Fawcett into stardom. Hastily done at ex-husband Lee Majors' home, photographer Bruce Mc Broom just took a blanket for a backdrop and Farrah Fawcett chose this now iconic red swimsuit over a bikini (to hide a childhood stomach scar).I think that she, Cheryl Tiegs, and Lauren Hutton are the eptiome of the fresh, athletic, healthy, sun tanned all american girls in the 1970's.
Now Michael Jackson. I also can't say I'm a fan but I of course grew up listening to his music (who didn't??).
I feel that the King of Pop has died too soon. It's no secret that Mr. Jackson isn't really the healthiest person around especially in his latter years, so when he was preparing for his upcoming Europe tour, I guess he overdid the rehearsals and his weak body couldn't take it. Plus reports that he's been taking drugs for back-pain the past days.
That's why its really imperative to keep your general well being healthy. Exercise regularly (if not daily), and forget taking nuphedra and other diet pills.
Now this is the Michael Jackson I like the best:
His songs aren't exactly my favorites but there are a number that are memorable to me:1.) Billie Jean - needless to say why as it has my name on it. Plus it has a very catchy beat.
2.) Earth Song- I just loved the music video
3.) Will You Be There-this Free Willy soundtrack I remember most because I played the drums to its beat one time in music class (5th grade)
4.) Black or White- love it.
5.) Man in the Mirror
Im predicting a boom in sales of all his albums, movies, souveneirs, memorabillia in the next months to come.
Ed Mc Mahon (The Tonight show side kick) has also passed away.
May they all rest in peace.
