THE CHOICE

So. The world's most wholesome bachelor has said goodbye to singledom. After over 60 years of endless push-and-pull choosing between girl-next-door Betty Cooper and rich brat Veronica Lodge, Archie Andrews has finally asked the hand of the woman he wants to spend the rest of his life with.

In my younger years, I used to like and root for Betty. She's nice, simple, and down-to-earth. But I got tired of sympathizing and feeling sorry for her. Veronica grew on me, and eventually, I grew up to become more of a Veronica type of woman. (not as bossy though)
There's a whole lot of theory behind why Archie chose Ronnie over Betty. Needless to say, the whole battlecry of "Why Men love/Marry Bitches" and how nice girls finish last have come in waves. I'm no man-expert but I do know that most men do not want push-overs or women that try so hard to please them (as I see Betty's character to be).
Then there's the speculation that Archie has chosen the more practical choice in this time of economic recession. (and of course, rumors that buzz how the comic series is coming to a full close because of the economic recession)
While its easy to imagine Archie and Veronica jetting off to Orlando vacations every other week or so, its also not hard to see Archie watching TV/playing video games with Jughead while Betty lovingly irons his clothes. Or Archie and Betty being good old soccer dad and mom.

Well I haven't had a one-one-one with Archiekins yet, so we don't really know WHY. But whatever his reasons are, I believe that Ronnie is the better choice between the two FOR Archie's type of character.
Archie's personality is youthful, overall nice and eager to please. He also has a playful side that draws a lot of attention from the opposite sex. If Archie ends up with Betty, he will always have his way and for a time, he will be on cloud nine almost not believing how lucky he can be with a wife that does everything to please him.
With Veronica, Archie will have someone fun , loving, and exciting but at the same time having a firm grip on him should he get too playful. She will proabably take Archie to a higher level (social and financial status).

So doesn't this sound all too familliar? (Angelina vs. Jen) The world loves a scorned underdog (Jennifer Aniston is supposedly America's Princess Di) and loathes the dark haired vixen who has all the qualities of a hub-napper. I'm over this issue of the good blonde vs the evil brunette but this proposal choice of Archie will certainly spurn it even more.

Im not at all saying the Bettys in this world finish last. Im just saying that for Archie, Veronica is probably the better match in the long run.
There are types of men who are better off with Bettys, and they're probably a stronger version of Archie who are happy to protect the sensitive soul of Betty. And these types of men will simply clash with a Veronica type. And no doubt will find her annoying.

It's all a matter of different personalities and knowing what we personally want.
As for me? I know I'm a 70% Veronica and 30% Betty who's found the Dilton Doiley of her life.


And as of today, we've been married for exactly three years.
