Product Review: Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion

now that it's officially the dead of winter here in oz, im faced with one major skin condition: dry flaky skin. it may be the main problem, but the real dilema lies in choosing which lotion to use. there's a dizzying array of over the counter brands out in pharmacies and supermarkets. i have tried almost each and every one of those lotions. ask a brand and i can most definitely give you the low down-both the good and the bad.
unfortunately, most moisturizing lotions either do one of the following:

a.) give the sensation of moisturizing upon application, but quickly evaporates, thus leaving the skin even drier.

b.) really do moisturize, but because it is too sticky and thick, it tends to rub off on clothing, and becomes horrifyingly gooey when your body sweats (exercise, movement, etc)

i read about Skin MD Natural Shielding lotion, and was really thrilled when they sent me a sample sized bottle

ive been using it for a week now, and so far here are my findings:


the sample size being 120 ml was a winner! a pump wasn't necessary because the lotion, being light in nature, wasn't a problem to squeeze out of the bottle. (i am very particular about containers--bottles, tubs, pumps. nothing is more annoying than a thick based lotion in a bottle).

consistency is very light. a small dollop goes a long way. it's not greasy nor overly thick that you have to warm it between palms to dissipate (as with most thicker lotions).

the lotion runs on clear and not viscously sticky. repeated rubbing wasn't necessary as the skin seemed to absorb it very quickly. i don't know how to explain it, but i felt it too. (the absorption)
it does go on smooth, and it has a silky powder smooth finish. that's the most exact way to describe it.

and the most important thing, it lasts long without it rubbing off. i do my morning exercise and it doesn't 'melt' like other moisturizing lotions do. nor does it turn gooey when i sweat.

a week of using this, and i've definitely felt a great difference.
for others who have lotion woes like me and hate the super sticky-'melts-when-running' type of lotion, i'd say give this a try and you wont ever go back.
